What is PTE Academic?
PTE Academic is a fully computer-based English test for study abroad and migration, accepted by thousands of universities and immigration bodies across 50+ countries — including Australia, the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand and Ireland. Scoring is automated, with a hybrid AI + human model reviewing selected tasks since August 2025.

How scoring works
Scores run from 10 to 90, aligned to the CEFR. You get an overall score plus separate Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing scores, valid for two years.

Frequently asked questions
Is PTE Academic accepted for Australian PR and student visas?
Yes — it is approved by the Australian Government for skilled migration and student visas, and accepted across the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand and Ireland.
What changed in the August 2025 format update?
Two new Speaking tasks were added — Respond to a Situation and Summarize Group Discussion. Total questions moved to 52–64, and scoring uses a hybrid AI + human model.
How soon do results arrive?
Most candidates receive the Official Score Report within 48 hours.
How often can I retake it?
Up to three times in a rolling 12 months, with at least five days between attempts.
